The University of Milano-Bicocca was established in 1998, with the aim of making research the strategic foundation of all its institutional activities. Nowadays, the University of Milano-Bicocca provides courses in several fields: economics and statistics, law, science, medicine, sociology, psychology, and pedagogy, with more than 30,000 enrolled students as of 2016. It is a young university, which in the space of few years has created an extensive network that includes many world-famous universities and research centers.


How to reach the Summer School

The Summer School will take place in building U6Room 04, “Aula Martini”, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo, Milano.

The closest metro station to reach the conference venue is Bicocca, served by the M5 line. From there, walk on Viale Fulvio Testi and turn right on Viale Rodi, then Via Luigi Emanueli and then turn left on Viale Piero e Alberto Pirelli. After a 5 minute walk, you will arrive at building U6 on the right.


Hotels and Accommodation

The Organizing Secretariat has negotiated special hotel rates for ESSIR 2019. Room reservations will be handled on a first-come, first served basis.
If you choose to pay by bank transfer, the relevant payment must be wired within 5 working days.

If any other company or agency offering a housing service for the ESSIR 2019 event in Milan contacts you, please note that these companies are not authorized to represent ESSIR in any way, nor they have access to the official room blocks or rates contracted by PROMOEST srl. We strongly recommend proceeding with extreme caution in the communication with these unauthorized companies and we invite you to avoid providing any personal information on the phone. PROMOEST srl is appointed as the sole authorized booking agent for the upcoming ESSIR from 15 to 19 July 2019.

Please, consider that the ESSIR 2019 will take place during the high tourist season, therefore we recommend you to book accommodation on time.

Please note that hotel rates do not include the city tax (check here city tax in Milan).

Milan is the capital of the Lombardy region, located in the north of Italy. With more than 3.2 million people living in the city and its surroundings, Milan is the most densely populated metropolitan area in Italy. The history of the city dates back to before the conquest by the Roman Empire in the second century CE, after which the city was named “Mediolanum” (meaning “In the middle of the plain”, which referred to the position of the settlement in the Po Valley).
